1. The Dramatist
A student dies after falling from the roof of her university and, when drugs are found in her bloodstream, it is assumed she committed suicide under the influence of heroin. Jack is called in by Professor Gorman, who does not accept this theory and thinks she was murdered. Meanwhile, Jack's friend Kate Noonan attempts to move up the career ladder by grabbing the attention of the new chief inspector.

2. Priest
Jack is hired to investigate the death of a priest, Father Royce, who has been beheaded. He discovers that the cleric abused two boys, Michael Clare and Tom Reed, several years earlier. But, shortly after interviewing Tom, he is found dead in the bath from a suspected heroin overdose. As Jack begins to drift back into his old ways, and discovers more of his own demons, Cody decides to do a little covert digging of his own.

3. Shot Down
After six months on the road, Jack encounters 11-year-old Roisin in Dublin and discovers the girl has been left traumatised after witnessing the murder of her mother. He visits the travellers' camp where she lives and offers to stay and help find the killer, believing that he can unlock the girl's memory. However, Jack discovers that he also has to deal with a dangerous feud between rival families.
