Meet the Characters
Get to know the characters in the American detective drama King and Maxwell.

-
Sean King
Secret Service agent turned private investigator/attorney, Sean King was dismissed from the service after failing to protect presidential candidate Clyde Ritter due to the sun's glare and flashes from cameras.
The assassination took place years before the show is set, but King is still affected by what happens. After a alcoholic period and a stint in law school, Sean makes a break in the Ritter assassination, discovering that his fellow SS agent Bob Scott, was the man responsible for the kill.
It should be noted that though King is rarely armed, he's extremely quick-witted and can talk himself out of any questionable situation. Witnesses and even potential suspects have commented on his "charming" attitude.
-
Maxine Maxwell
Another Secret Service agent turned private investigator, Maxwell comes from a long line of law inforcers, including all four of her brothers and her father, the chief-of-police.
Maxine was released by the SS after accusing the person she was protecting of sexually assaulting a 14 year-old, and then failing to stop him from being kidnapped.
Although Maxwell never served in the SS with King, she is extremely loyal to her partner and will do anything to close her case.
Don't be fooled by her beauty or disorganization ? Maxine knows more than she lets on.
-
Edgar Roy
This once suspected serial killer is now a member of the King & Maxwell Private Investigation Team, joining after King served as his lawyer in his highly publicised criminal case.
Although he may seem intimidating, Edgar is a high-functioning autistic savant who specializes in patterns and numerical sequences. He's a go-to resource that crime-fighting agencies should use whenever possible and even though he works for minimal pay he is a huge resource for King & Maxwell.
-
FBI Agent Rigby
Rigby is a veteran FBI agent. He always follows the rules, sticks to the facts and questions anyone who stands between him and the truth.
He took responsibility for the botched case - the kidnapping of a 17-year-old girl in West Virginia - but is still paying the price for his mistake by failing to get a higher agency position.
Although he would prefer non-law enforcement agencies to leave case-solving to the FBI, Rigby recognizes the unique skills King & Maxwell have to catch criminals.
Rigby's partner is Agent Carter. and though the two men see very differently when it comes to investigation and seeking outside help, they do work together quite well.
-
FBI Agent Carter
Carter is Agent Rigby's junior partner who has had to overcome some serious personal issues, directly related to law enforcement.
Police officers shot and paralyzed his younger brother a few years ago when they suspected the teen of having a gun in the car. This nearly fatal oversight cost his brother the ability to walk and has permanently left a chip on Carter's shoulder.
Carter works with whoever can help solve a case ? either standard law-enforcement organizations, like the police, or unconventional resources, like private investigators. His partnership with Rigby is tricky, as the two are clear opposites when it comes to their processes and overall attitudes.
