In Series 11, Murdoch and Ogden's marriage went through the wringer after Julia's miscarriage led to their relationship crumbling before the couple finally made amends. Constable George Crabtree also had some trouble with affairs of the heart as Nina Bloom's departure to Paris for a new job left him heartbroken and single.

Despite all the setbacks, that didn't stop Murdoch & Co solving a whole host of intricate mysteries and Series 12 will be no different as the Toronto detective played by Yannick Bisson continues his pioneering forensic work alongside his skilled pathologist partner Julia (Hélène Joy), gruff boss Inspector Thomas Brackenreid (Thomas Craig) as well as Constables Crabtree (Jonny Harris), Henry Higgins (Lachlan Murdoch) and eccentric Detective Llewellyn Watts (Daniel Maslany).

In the thrilling first episode, Murdoch Mystery Mansion, Murdoch and Ogden throw a housewarming upon completion of their new avant-garde home, which was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright (Aaron Poole), a Chicago architect with a burgeoning reputation. But, when a rival architect is blown to bits in Murdoch's specially-designed closet-sized microwave prototype, Wright comes under suspicion.

Meanwhile, ambitious morgue assistant Violet Hart (Shanice Banton) continues her sly mission to gain power when Julia has returns to medical school to study surgery.

In later episodes, Murdoch has to impersonate a dead diplomat to save a treaty and prevent a world war, an astronomical phenomenon has dire implications for Toronto when it starts affecting people's behaviour, all hell breaks loose at Constable Higgins and Ruth Newsome's wedding when a guest repeatedly tries to kill the groom and Inspector Brackenreid discovers a shocking secret from his past that will jeopardise his marriage.

Along with innovative architect Frank Lloyd Wright, the show also continues its tradition of incorporating real-life historical figures when Constable Crabtree begins a courtship with a nursing student called Florence (Kathryn Alexandre) who would go on to be a very famous name in business and one of the wealthiest women in the world.
