Terry's boss, Deputy Chief Holland Knox (played by Michael Gladis), heads up the Charleston PD where Terry serves alongside the well-respected Preston Cruz (played by Adam Rodríguez).

Preston is the boyfriend of litigator Jamie Sawyer, the defence lawyer for disgraced cop Lee Anne Marcus. However, Preston might not be all that he appears.

Terry has a dysfunctional relationship with his father, Pat (played by David Keith).
