Detective Jane Rizzoli (Angie Harmon)

A tough Boston homicide detective who works closely with her best friend, Dr. Maura Isles. Jane is close with her family, including her brother Frankie Jr., who just achieved his lifelong dream of being a detective, and her sweet, but meddling mother, Angela. Jane?s love life usually takes a back seat to her job, making it tough for her to have a steady relationship.
Dr. Maura Isles (Sasha Alexander)

A brilliant and eccentric medical examiner who puts as much thought into her work as she does into her impeccable wardrobe. Sweet-natured and interested in everything, Maura is a walking encyclopedia who can recite obscure facts and studies, which occasionally exasperates Jane. Always striving to do what is right, she recently donated her kidney ? anonymously ? in order to save her half-sister, Cailin, whom she barely knows.
Frankie Rizzoli Jr. (Jordan Bridges)

Jane?s brother and the youngest of the Rizzoli kids. Jane is Frankie's role model and motivated him to passed the detective exam. Since being a vital member of the team he has been promoted to detective, as well as taking night classes in computer science to increase his skill sets.
Detective Barry Frost (Lee Thompson Young)

Jane?s computer-savvy but squeamish partner. He learned a great deal from Jane during his first years on the job and has now proven himself as a reliable member of the team. In season 5 Barry died in a car crash when returning from his holiday and the team establish the Barry Frost Memorial Scholarship for gifted and talented people intending to go to into a career that will help others but lack the finance to do so.
Detective Vince Korsak (Bruce McGill)

Vince Korsak is the sergeant of the station and Jane?s former partner and old-school homicide squad teammate. Although no longer working together as partners, they two continue to have a close bond. He took Frankie Jr. under his wing to train and guide him to be a successful detective. In preparation for retirement he has now bought their local bar that they all frequently go to and has employed Angela.
Angela Rizzoli (Lorraine Bracco)

Jane?s meddling mother who, now that she is divorced, is getting back into the world of dating. Fiercely protective of her children, she wishes Jane and Frankie Jr. had chosen any career other than police work. She also wishes Jane would settle down and give her grandchildren. She now lives in Maura?s guesthouse and works at the police station café.
