Who’s Who in The Coroner
From old flames to rebellious teenagers, find out who’s who in this Devon-based drama.

-
Claire Goose as Jane Kennedy
She thought she’d escaped the small town she grew up in, but solicitor Jane Kennedy decides to take the job of local coroner to escape a failed marriage. Persistent to a fault, Jane is a shrewd operator, committed to finding answers. She’ll put in the hours to get to the bottom of her cases but is happy to leave her work at the office when the job is done.
-
Matt Bardock as Detective Sergeant Davey Higgins
Davey Higgins is an astute, honest copper who likes to play by the rules, which can cause friction with Jane when she tries to bend them on occasion. Keen to cross the i’s and dot the t’s, Dave is prone to bury himself in work, perhaps because his home life is far from happy. Dave and Jane were childhood sweethearts and now she’s back in his life, it’s clear Dave still has a strong affection for her.
-
Beatie Edney as Judith Kennedy
Jane's mother is a good hearted, salt-of-the-earth country girl with a strong work ethic. With her partner Mick, she runs The Black Dog pub and her job is often to keep the peace between Jane and Mick when he runs into a spot of bother. Judith is very protective of her daughter and delighted that’s she returned to live and work in Lighthaven.
-
Ivan Kaye as Mick Sturrock
Mick Sturrock is landlord of The Black Dog pub and Judith's boyfriend. He has his heart in the right place but can’t help bumbling into trouble every now and again. Prone to hatching inadvisable schemes and running his mouth off once in a while, Jane views Mick with a healthy scepticism but has genuine affection for him.
-
Oliver Gomm as Clint Holman
Clint is the Coroner’s Officer, helping out Jane and Davey on their many cases. A bit of a dreamer, Clint means well but will often get hold of the wrong end of the stick if left to his own devices. With a bit of direction from Jane though, his tireless work behind the scenes pays dividends.
-
Grace Hogg-Robinson as Beth Kennedy
You might think that Jane's daughter would have resented being brought to live in a small, sleepy seaside town but Beth isn’t your typical rebellious teenager. Yes, she’s very strong willed and fiercely independent, but she’s determined to make a go of it in her new home and, whilst she spars with her mother on occasion, she will ultimately will do the right thing.
