Fresh from the thrill of the kill, Freddy's (Hermonie Corfield) mood nosedives when old flame Matt Bowers (Tom Andrews) warns her that he is about to call in his debts. She's going to have to come up with the money or face the consequences... or is she?
A visit to Baba (Dipo Ola) winds the former child soldier deeper into her web. Since arriving in London from the Congo, Baba has worked hard to turn his life around, putting the dark years behind him.
Now contact with Freddy triggers the violence buried deep within him, and he reveals himself once more as a proficient and cold-eyed killer.
New partners Jackson Mendy (Babou Ceesay) and Lola Franks (Eve Myles) meanwhile are at odds about the best way to catch a killer. For Lola it's all about old style policing, and she really doesn't need soft-hearted Jackson on her case with his philosophical notions about societal guilt and collective blame.
One thing they agree on after interviewing Freddy, however, is that there is definitely something off about her. As they try to work out what, they follow the lead she's given them about the first victim's gay lover, who just happens to be the man Freddy owes money to...
