An actor, Harley Carter (Jerry O'Connell) returns home after a public meltdown and tries to use his acting experience to solve real crimes.

Life would be pretty good for Harley if there wasn't a new chief of police in Bishop: Joyce Warwick Boyle (Lyriq Bent), an NYPD transplant with a mysterious past and an interest in Sam.
